Housing and Welfare Benefits Advice

*Please note that our drop-in service will not be running on Tuesday 28th May and will resume as usual on Tuesday 4th June.

Our Housing and Welfare Benefits team provides clients with advice and casework on housing (including homelessness and procession proceedings), and accessing a number of welfare benefits. This also includes supporting those who have difficulty accessing housing due to their immigration status. Our team will often work in tandem with our immigration advisers to offer the best advice possible.

Our specialist advisers can help with any of the following issues related to housing:

  • Homelessness

  • Rent arrears

  • Possession proceedings due to mortgage arrears

  • Section 21 notice

  • Eviction

  • Disrepair

  • Overcrowding

  • Housing register and allocations

We support people in understanding their entitlement to welfare benefits (most of these will fall under the category of "public funds") and can offer support in the following areas:

  • Universal Credit

  • Jobseeker's Allowance

  • Personal Independence Payment

  • Disability Living allowance

  • Child Benefit

  • Income support

  • Employment and support allowance

  • Housing benefit

We also run a weekly drop-in every Tuesday from 10am to 12pm for new clients.  The drop-in is on a first come - first served basis and we are only able to see a maximum of 8 people on the day, so please arrive early. Please note the drop-in service is for new clients only.

Please note though that we are extremely busy and our appointments are usually booked 2 weeks in advance or more. If you have an urgent time limit which expires sooner than 2 weeks, we recommend you attend our drop in .
