Young Londoners Project Co-ordinator (21 hours a week)

We have recently secured funding from Young Londoners Fund to support unaccompanied refugee and migrant children including their parents regularise their immigration status, apply for asylum, access welfare, secure accommodation, gain employment and or access training and education.

We are looking for a Project Co-ordinator who has a significant experience of co-ordinating/managing a project with strong background/experience in providing housing, homelessness and welfare advice, information and support.

The successful applicant should be comfortable in multi-tasking, flexible and pro-active. You should be able to support children and young people (CYP) and their parents on their housing and welfare issues; helping them avoid homelessness and destitution. You should have experience of applying for public funds and in particular under Section 17 of the Children’s Act, advocate on your clients’ behalf and challenge gatekeeping. In addition, you should have significant experience of working in and developing partnerships and strong commitment to engaging stakeholders such as Children’s Social Services, schools, GPs, etc to reach out CYP who will benefit from the project. You will facilitate and organise World Café events; a platform to bring together CYP and agencies to discuss CYP issues with the aim of finding solutions.

You will be based in Lewisham and you will develop partnerships with organisations across London primarily in south and southeast London.

Ideally you should have experience of working with the voluntary sector and children and young people particularly from refugee and migrant background.
