LRMN raises over £1,400 to feed local refugees families

This winter, we asked for help to feed families and people experiencing hardship during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Thanks to your support, Lewisham Refugee and Migrant Network’s winter appeal raised over £1,400 and distributed about 500 meals to destitute families and people excluded from claiming benefits.

Comfort, Foodbank Coordinator, said: “We’ve seen so many people come and collect food every week. I think it says a lot that people would risk catching Covid-19 to get food support, it means that they really have no choice. And it’s terrible to say, but we have seen the situation get worse, as people are saying they don’t even have money for the bus to get to the Hub these days. I am pleased that we’ve been able to help them during this difficult time.”

A huge thank you to everyone that contributed to this campaign. Your donations helped someone struggling this winter to get back on their feet.

We need your help to continue to meet the basic needs of those seeking sanctuary in London.

Providing food is just one of four things we do to empower migrants in South London. We advocate, campaign, meet basic needs and improve the wellbeing of refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants in London.
