The Women Together project is a unique project for refugee and asylum-seeking women survivors of gender-based violence, funded by Henry Smith. We offer a holistic, woman-centred service comprising of 1-1 counselling, weekly women’s nurture group, advocacy support and summer activities for mothers and children.
We are currently recruiting a qualified or trainee female counsellors to join our project. The role is on a voluntary basis.
This is a good opportunity to work within a human-rights setting with women from diverse world cultures, helping them to rebuild trust, resilience and foster ability to cope with trauma. You will benefit from being part of a small supportive team, with opportunities for learning about asylum and human rights issues, and for incorporating cross-cultural and holistic approaches into your counselling practice. We provide free monthly clinical group supervision.
This placement is offered 1 day per week during office hours (morning or afternoon), for a minimum of six months to ensure continuity for our clients. Given the nature of the issues that are presented and the trauma that our clients experience, we prefer to hire trainee/volunteer counsellors who already have some 1-1 clinical hours experience.
Counselling is offered either remotely or in-person, or a combination of the two.
Successful applicants will be asked to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
LRMN is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. This post however is restricted to women due to the nature of the role. The Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies.
