LRMN’s first Campaigns Lab workshop

Our very first Campaigns Lab workshop was such a special day for all of us at LRMN. We stepped away from our usual routines and came together to learn and reflect on our campaigning work. It was time to pause and ask ourselves: Why do we campaign? What impact are we making? And how can we build on what we’ve started?

The workshop started off by talking through the campaigns we’re already working on – like calling for free bus travel for people seeking asylum, pushing for compassionate NHS charging policies, and more.

These campaigns are grounded in real experiences and shaped by what our Community Forum members tell us matters most. We also spent time thinking about other issues we should be speaking up about and how we can keep making sure our campaigns truly reflect the needs and voices of the people we support.

Our Community Forum member also joined us to share her experiences of campaigning with LRMN. She spoke honestly about what it’s meant to her, why she got involved, and how it’s helped her feel more confident speaking out. We also watched a short video she created as part of our Community Champion training on digital storytelling, which brought her journey to life in a powerful way. It was a reminder of why centring lived experience is so important in everything we do.

By the end of the day, we felt re-energised and excited about what’s next. This workshop was just the beginning, and we’re so ready to keep building campaigns that are bold, inclusive, and shaped by our community every step of the way!
